Welcome to Loving Chinese Brush Painting!
My goal is to share my knowledge and to help keep this ancient art form alive by teaching beginner lessons with ink and watercolor.

Together we will learn the beautiful ancient art of brush painting. I will teach the basics that you need to know to get started, including the Basic Materials and an introduction to the Four Treasures of the Studio, the Basic Techniques, Working with Ink and Color. I will explain the 3 Essential Steps and then show you how to create paintings with the basic tools and techniques. We will learn about the traditional Four Gentlemen and other favorite subjects, such as Morning Glory flowers and landscaping.

Although I am new to the internet and YouTube, I have been a student for many years and a teacher for over 30 years. In 1999, I published a book, entitled “Loving Chinese Brush Painting”.

I had the good fortune to study under 2 great masters: Master Li Ling Jia and Master Nien-Tsu Hu. From them, I learned not only valuable art techniques, but also the Zen of Chinese Brush Painting.

I look forward to sharing my knowledge of the basic strokes and simple equipment to make Chinese Brush Painting easy to learn. It would be my pleasure and I would feel honored to help students of all ages to enjoy this ancient art form
